Sgr-Jmu NH open one-way
Ramban, Sep 20: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for one-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LLMVs), and heavy vehicles towards Kashmir on Saturday.
However, the traffic authorities said that the movement remained extremely slow due to damaged, uneven, and unpaved road stretches at Tharad in Udhampur district.
They said vehicles had to negotiate a single-lane, 250-300 metre-long, undulating road surface in the area.
To avoid congestion, no traffic from the Kashmir, Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban was allowed towards Jammu on Saturday.
Authorities advised commuters, vehicle operators, and security convoys to strictly follow traffic advisories, especially due to the narrow carriageway between Tharad and Bali Nullah in Udhampur and between Maroog and Kishtwari Pattar in Ramban district.
Meanwhile, hundreds of LMVs and heavy vehicles managed to cross the landslide-affected and most problematic stretches towards Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and Kashmir till late Saturday evening.
A Traffic Police official monitoring the situation at Tharad said that hundreds of vehicles carrying essential supplies for Kashmir and Chenab Valley crossed the Udhampur-Tharad stretch in a regulated manner.
Hundreds of trucks destined for Kashmir were waiting for a green signal in Jammu and Udhampur to move ahead.
