Sgr Jmu NH closed for repairs
Ramban, June 11: Srinagar Jammu National Highway (NH-44) was closed for scheduled night road repair works between Nashri and Banihal sectors in Ramban district on Tuesday evening, traffic authorities said.
They said the National Highway was closed for every type of traffic movement for road repair works between Nashri and Banihal in Ramban district on Tuesday at 6 pm at Qazigund in Kashmir; at 5 pm at Nagrota in Jammu and at 6 pm at Udhampur.
“All the traffic was stopped at Qazigund in Kashmir and Jakhani in Udhampur. However, road traffic between Udhampur and Banihal is being cleared. Traffic will remain suspended on Tuesday night and it will resume on Wednesday morning till the restoration work is completed between Nashri and Banihal in Ramban district,” they said.
Traffic authorities in Ramban said, “Traffic on both sides was suspended on the recommendations of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has intimated that urgent repair (maintenance) has to be carried out on NH-44 between Ramban and Banihal during the intervening night of June 11 and 12.”
“For this purpose, vehicular movement of all types was suspended for Tuesday night,” they added.
They advised commuters and vehicle operators to avoid journeys on NH-44 till the road repair work was completed on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, traffic authorities issued a fresh advisory for Wednesday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) would be allowed to ply on either side of the NH-44.
