Sgr-Jammu NH Highway remains open
Ramban, June 27: The Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light medium and vehicles, on Thursday.
However, traffic authorities said traffic movement remained slow between Nashri and Banihal sectors due to the breakdown of six heavy vehicles and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar Cafeteria, Panthyal, Maroog, Shalgari, Nachlana, Kishtwari Pathar besides poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri and Banihal.
Traffic officials monitoring traffic regulations said that despite slow traffic movement hundreds of light medium and heavy vehicles crossed the Nashri-Banihal tunnels till late Wednesday evening.
They said National Highway is open and vehicles are heading towards their respective destinations in Kashmir and Jammu.
Traffic authorities once again advised passenger vehicle operators, and commuters not to undertake journeys on National Highway during the night hours due to apprehensions of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal sectors.
Meanwhile, traffic authorities said, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, medium vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side of highway on Friday.
The cut-off timing for Srinagar bound light medium passenger vehicles has been fixed from 7 am to 11 am from Nagrota, Jammu and 8 am to 12 pm from Jakhani, Udhampur.
Similarly, the cut-off timing for Jammu-bound light-medium vehicles has been fixed from 11-30 am to 2 pm from Qazigund Kashmir on Friday.
