Srinagar, June 24: Multiple structures, including a masjid were gutted in a massive fire incident at Bohri Kadal today.

Panic gripped Bohri Kadal when a structure was up in flames and engulfed adjoining structures. An official from the fire and emergency services said they pressed multiple fire tenders to douse off the fire. He said that their firemen were also injured and shifted to hospital, and by evening, the operation was ongoing.

“Multiple structures, including a masjid and adjacent structures, were involved in the fire in the Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar. As per our initial assessment, around 15 structures were gutted in the incident which includes residential as well as commercial structures. Multiple teams of Fire and Emergency services and Police were on the spot to carry out the operation. Two of our firemen were injured while dousing off the flames. These are initial details, and complete details will be available after the operation is over,” an official from F&E services said.

During the operation multiple police officials were seen on the ground assisting in the operation to douse of the massive blaze that had engulfed the adjacent structures.

“Extensive ongoing rescue operation by Srinagar police along with teams of F&ES and locals to contain the massive fire that erupted in Bohri Kadal Masjid and surrounding areas today afternoon,” Srinagar police wrote on its official X account.

Meanwhile, young locals risked their lives to assist in the operation. The youngsters were seen helping F&ES teams and police on the spot.

“This is a massive fire and we don’t know about the whole damage yet. All the youngsters risked their lives to assist in the operation but still multiple structures are involved,” said a local. Officials said the cause of fire is being ascertained.
