Several structures gutted at Barzulla
Srinagar, Jan 6: Several structures were gutted in a major fire incident at Bulbul Bagh area of Barzulla on Tuesday evening, causing panic among residents as huge flames were seen rising from a distance.
Officials said the fire erupted in one of the tin structures and quickly spread to multiple adjoining structures due to the presence of highly inflammable material. “The sheds were storing foam, carpets, scrap, thinners, and paint, which caused the fire to spread rapidly,” an official of the Fire and Emergency Services said, adding that the exact number of tin structures involved is not known yet.
According to officials, a fire call was received at 5:06 pm, following which fire tenders from Rawalpora, Nowgam, and others were pressed into service. “Our teams responded immediately and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby residential areas,” the official said.
During the firefighting operation, three firemen sustained injuries. “Three of our personnel were injured while dousing the flames and were provided immediate medical attention,” the official added.
