Several shops, houses gutted in Gurez fire mishap
Bandipora, Oct 13: A major fire broke out in the Dawar Tulail market in the Gurez area of Bandipora district on Sunday evening, causing significant damage to property, officials said.
They said at least more than half a dozen shops were damaged, along with damage to residential houses.
The incident was reported at 8:34 PM, with teams immediately dispatched from the Dawar Gurez command and nearby stations, Kashmir Bulletin (KB) the local news agency reported.
The officials said that upon arrival, the fire was found to have engulfed nearly 8 to 10 shops and two residential houses.
They added that despite efforts, the fire remained uncontrolled at the time of the report, while the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
Firefighters were on the spot to douse off the flames when this report was being filed.
