Several rooms of MLA Hostel gutted in fire incident

Srinagar, Feb 16: A portion of MLA Hostel at MA Road was damaged in a fire incident today.

Officials of Fire and Emergency Service said the hostel was damaged due to LPG leakage. “Multiple rooms of MLA hostel were damaged along with some household equipment,” said an official.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a private school building was damaged at Chattabal area today afternoon.

“It happened due to a short circuit. It was a privately owned building which was housing a school, a leather workshop and few shops. There was some damage to the leather workshop and Laboratory of the private school. Our firemen were able to bring the fire under control in time,” said the official.

The officials said that multiple fire tenders from headquarters, Gaw Kadal, Baba Demb, S H Pora and Safa Kadal were pressed in to douse off the blaze at both the places.
