Jammu, Jan 03: The Estates Department in its compliance report has informed the court that former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has vacated his government accommodation.

It has further informed that an eviction order was issued to J&K BJP President Sat Sharma and a notice for the payment of penal rent amounting to Rs. 73,470 was also issued to Sharma.

“The premises occupied by Sharma has been sealed,” reads the compliance report submitted in before the Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice M.A. Chowdhary by the Estates Department.

Pertinently, the court had directed the concerned authorities to file the report regarding occupants, including former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, Sat Sharma, former MLCs, Surinder Ambardar and Zaffar Iqbal Manhas (Ex-MLC).

The compliance report further disclosed that eviction proceedings have also been initiated against Zaffar Iqbal Manhas and Surinder Ambardar.

The report further mentions that senior Congress leader S.S. Channi has vacated his government accommodation, and a notice for the payment of penal rent amounting to Rs. 14,690 has been issued to him. Similarly, former legislator Mohammed Abbas Wani has also vacated his accommodation, and a notice for penal rent amounting to Rs. 19,586 has also been issued to him.

The Estates Department as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust also revealed that former legislator Abdul Rahim Rather and ex-MLC Vibodh Gupta have also vacated their accommodations, with notices for penal rent amounting to Rs. 28,211 and Rs. 13,993, respectively, issued to them. (KNT)
