Several killed in explosion at Swiss Ski Resort Bar

New Delhi, Jan 01: Several people were killed and others injured after an explosion and fire ripped through a bar in the Swiss ski resort town of Crans-Montana, police said. The blast occurred at around 1:30 am local time at the Le Constellation bar, where New Year’s Eve celebrations were under way. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, reports BBC.

Unverified videos circulating on social media showed flames engulfing the bar following the blast. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and a helpline has been set up for families of those affected, police said a reported by BBC

Crans-Montana is an upmarket ski resort in the Valais region of Switzerland, popular with international tourists. Located about two hours from the capital Bern, the town is known for its extensive ski area, featuring around 87 miles of trails. The resort is also scheduled to host a FIS World Cup speed skiing event later this month. Authorities said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
