Several candidates file nominations in Ganderbal, Kangan

Ganderbal, Sep 04: Several candidates from different political parties as well as Independent candidates filed their nominations on Wednesday for Ganderbal and Kangan assembly constituencies here.

Both Kangan and Ganderbal assembly constituencies are going to polls on September 25 in the second phase of the three-phase Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. In Ganderbal former Chief Minister and National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah filed his nomination papers with the Returning Officer for Ganderbal AC-18 .

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Bashir Ahmad Mir filed his nomination papers as well.  JK Apni party Candidate Er Mubashir Qazi, DPAP candidate Qaisar Sultan, JKUM president and former MLA Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar also filed nominations.

However in an unexpected turn of events, the Congress party district president Ganderbal Sahil Farooq filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate against NC candidate Omar Abdullah. Although Congress and NC are in alliance and as per seat sharing agreement Ganderbal had gone to NC. In Kangan, PDP candidate Syed Jamaat Ali Shaheen filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer Kangan AC-17 .
