Seminar on Punjabi poetry, culture organised
Baramulla, Oct 26: Jammu Kashmir Punjabi Sahit Sabha Baramulla in active collaboration with Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a daylong seminar on Punjabi poetry and cultural programme at Adbi Markaz Kamraz Kanispora Baramulla here.
The event was organised, with S Kirat Singh, Retired DIG as the chief guest while as Omkar Singh Bali, Chairman DGPC Baramulla, Professor Gewchawan Singh Raina, Sulinder Singh Sodhi besides huge number of participants also graced the event.
In the inaugural session, a welcome note was presented to the higher dignitaries and the participants besides the importance of organising seminar was also deliberated. It was observed that Punjabi language has a unique sweetness and impact and it’s therefore important to hold seminars like “these to further popularise and promote Punjabi language, literature and culture in every region of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Chief Guest while addressing the seminar asserted that there is more need than ever before today to revive traditional languages for the young generation. “In the future, our aim is to conduct more seminars to give more opportunity to youth to showcase their talents.” he added.
During the programme, several writers from different areas presented their poetry.
On the occasion, other speakers and participants also hailed the academy’s efforts of organising the literary and cultural programmes at various places of the region to sharpen the skills of the youth who are interested in writing and to promote the Punjabi language.
