Seminar on philosophy of Vedas held at SMVDU
Srinagar, Dec 18: A highly engaging and intellectually enriching 1-day national seminar on the theme “Philosophy of the Vedas and the Vedic Roots of Indian Culture” was organised today by the School of Philosophy and Culture and School of Languages and Literature.
The event was aimed to explore the timeless wisdom of the Vedas and its profound influence on Indian culture, philosophy, and heritage.
The seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), who delivered an insightful address highlighting the relevance of Vedic knowledge in contemporary times.
The keynote address was delivered by the eminent scholar and Padma Shri awardee, Prof Vishwamurti Shastri, who illuminated the audience with his profound understanding of the Vedas, emphasising their universal and eternal values. Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, was the Guest of Honor. Verma spoke about the Vedic roots of Dogri language and culture by analysing various examples from the region.
