Shopian, May 25:   Many voters on Saturday were seen taking selfies at various selfie points installed at polling stations in the Zainappora assembly segment of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The administration had installed selfie points in Melhora and Wachi villages of the constituency.

According to an official, the electorate, particularly the young ones, took pictures at such selfie points after casting their ballots.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Muhammad Amir, a voter, said that he was taking the selfie to later post it on his social media handles.

“It is a unique experience,” he said hailing such initiatives to attract the voters. Besides the young voters, many senior citizens were also seen taking pictures at such selfie points. The district’s Information Department on its social media handles also shared the pictures of electorates taken at these selfie points.

Many voters also shared their messages while recording their videos at such points.

“It is our political right to cast a vote and all eligible voters should exercise this right. I cast my vote for transparency, accountability, and good governance,” said Rouf Ahmad, a proud voter.

Apart from the selfie points, the administration had set up green, pink, PwD, and youth-managed polling stations across the assembly segments to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
