Selective evictions in Gulmarg part of larger conspiracy: Iqbal Trumboo

Srinagar, Sep 27: PDP spokesperson Mohammed Iqbal Trumboo has strongly condemned the eviction of Park Hotel in Gulmarg, terming it as “just the beginning of a larger conspiracy to hand over prime properties of Jammu and Kashmir to big business houses of the country.”

In a press release, Trumboo said that “under the garb of a Hon’ble Court order directing eviction of properties with expired leases, the government is carrying out selective evictions.” “Pertinently, the administration had announced formation of a committee to deal with such lease cases, but according to sources, approval for its formation is being deliberately stalled,” he alleged.

He further stated that “certain officers in the GDA and Tourism Department, with the patronage of higher-ups, are pushing an agenda to transfer the UT’s prime assets into the hands of influential business lobbies outside J&K.” Trumboo said: “If the administration does not act appropriately and stop this selective targeting, the eviction and subsequent handover of these properties will become a reality, thereby jeopardising the rights and interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
