Segregation shed turns into dumping yard in Sonamarg

A segregation shed constructed at Rezan area of tehsil Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has turned into a dumping ground with locals urging authorities to act forthwith in the larger interests of residents. Local residents said that the Rural Development Department has set up a segregation shed at Rezan area near Sonamarg however, the shed as per locals of the area has been left open causing inconvenience to the local population.

Residents complained that the abandoned facility has become a heaven for stray dogs, posing a significant health and safety risk to the community. “This plant was meant to process waste and improve sanitation, but it has become a nuisance instead,” a local resident lamented.

The shed has resulted in severe hardships for the people in the area, as the accumulation of unsegregated waste has created environmental and public health concerns. The residents have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action in this regard.
