Seerbagh Khrew residents urge authorities to take measures as speeding trucks pose danger
Srinagar, Nov 17: The residents of Seerbagh, Khrew, on the outskirts of Srinagar have urged authorities to take immediate measures against “reckless and speeding” vehicles including tippers which according to them pose significant risks to the lives of the people.
The locals said that the speeding trucks (tippers) on the route have turned the area into a “danger zone”.
“A large number of tippers and trucks ply daily from and towards cement factories and other industrial establishments. Most of the drivers resort to reckless driving and ply with high speed, posing significant dangers to the passersby,” they said.
The people requested the authorities to place speed-breakers and take other measures which would arrest the trend of speeding by the drivers and in turn ensure there is no mishap leading to any unfortunate incident.
“We have in past also brought this issue to the notice of the concerned authorities but no concrete steps have been taken so far,” they said. “We urge the authorities to act and not wait for any unfortunate incident to happen.”
