Srinagar, Aug 23: Senior National Conference leader Nazir Gurezi Friday said that if our party comes to the power, his top priority would be seeking national highway status for Bandipora-Gurez road.

Speaking to reporters, Gurezi dismissed opposition claims that Farooq Abdullah was released by the Enforcement Directorate due to a potential alliance with the BJP, calling such allegations baseless propaganda. He said that fresh NC-Congress coalition proved the opposition's narrative wrong.

On assembly elections, Nazir said that while they will be held in the valley, they are not a "gift" for Kashmiri’s but rather a democratic right.

He expressed disappointment over the lack of significant development in Gurez and Bandipora since the abrogation of Article 370, particularly highlighting the unfulfilled demand for national highway status for Bandipora.

He said the emotional campaign that previously led to the victory of the Awami Itehad Party (AIP) in Lok Sabha polls was backed by the center, and may be used again in the upcoming elections. (KNS)
