SED issues cleanliness advisory for schools reopening after summer break

Srinagar, July 16: The School Education Department (SED) Tuesday issued an advisory ahead of the reopening of the schools post 10-day summer break.

The SED has asked all the heads of the institutions to take the necessary measures before the commencement of the teaching-learning process in the schools.

“Ensure that all the premises including classrooms corridors and common areas are thoroughly cleaned,” the advisory reads.

The schools heads have been advised to pay special attention towards clean toilets while ensuring these are hygienic and well maintained for the use of students.

“The heads of the schools should clean and disinfect water tanks to ensure safe drinking water for the children who will report to the schools after summer vacation,” it reads.

The SED had earlier announced 10-day summer break for all government and private schools of Kashmir division up to class 12th from July 8 to July 17.

The schools are set to reopen on July 18.

Ahead of the commencement of classroom activities for students, the SED has advised the heads of the schools to ensure that the rooftops are free from debris and dirt.

“Trim and maintain lawns and grounds to provide a neat and safe environment to students," the advisory reads.

The heads of the institutions have been asked to clear any junk, waste, or debris from the school premises to maintain a clean and clutter-free environment for school children.

“Identify and remove any stagnant water to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and other pests,” it reads.

The school heads have also been asked to inspect the premises for any water leakage and ensure these are promptly repaired to avoid water wastage and potential damage to the infrastructure in the school.

“These measures are crucial to provide a safe, clean, and conducive environment for students as they return to school after summer vacation,” the advisory reads.
