SED delays notification of syllabus, aspirants left high and dry
Srinagar, Apr 13: The much hyped recruitment for 575 lecturer positions in various streams in the J&K School Education Department (SED) approved last year has left the candidates high and dry over the delay in notifying the syllabus.
The inordinate delay by the department to finalise the syllabi for lecturer recruitment exam and notify it for the candidates has left the candidates puzzled.
The SED has failed to notify the syllabus despite the passage of over four months since the positions were notified by the J&K Public Service Commission on December 10 of 2024.
As already reported, the SED in October last year announced the approval of advertisements for 575 lecturer positions in various streams within the SED claiming it as an initiative to provide jobs to unemployed youth in the region.
Later the posts were referred to the JKPSC following which the same were notified by the JKPSC on its official website on December 10 of 2024.
After a passage of more than two months, the SED on February 27 of 2025 constituted a committee headed by Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) as its chairman. The other members of the committee include Director School Education Jammu, Special Secretary SED, Registrar Kashmir University and Registrar Jammu University.
However, till date the department has not notified the syllabus for the convenience of the aspirants.
"We are in a state of dilemma as we don't know our syllabus despite the passage of four months since the posts were put to advertisement by JKPSC. It completely disturbs our preparation schedule. When we don't know our syllabus it is obvious things will not be clear with us regarding preparation," an aspirant told Greater Kashmir.
Similar complaints were raised by other aspirants who said that the department should frame and notify the syllabi for lecturer exams as early as possible.
A member of the JKPSC told Greater Kashmir that they have written to the SED about the matter more than a month ago but they are yet to receive any response.
"We took up the matter with them in February. But till date nothing has happened. We heard some meetings have been convened with regard to framing of syllabi but there is no clarity yet," the official said.
Registrar Kashmir University (KU) Prof Naseer Iqbal who is one of the members of the committee entrusted with framing of syllabus of 27 subjects said they convened several meetings in this regard.
"Around three meetings were held by the committee for preparing of syllabus and the Registrars of both the Universities got the syllabi approved from the experts and Heads of the departments of concerned subjects as well," Registrar KU told Greater Kashmir.
He said a last meeting was held on April 9 of 2025 in Jammu wherein the syllabus was handed over to the chairman of the committee.
"Now the syllabus is only to be notified. The committee has completed its job," he said.
A top official in SED informed Greater Kashmir that the syllabus will be submitted to JKPSC very soon following which it will be notified on their website.
