Security heightened at Jammu Railway Station amid intensive checking
Jammu, Nov 17: With high alert in place all across Jammu region with particular focus on vital installations, an intensive search operation was conducted at Jammu Railway Station, amid heightened security on Monday.
According to officials, this massive search operation was being conducted in the backdrop of developments which recently unfolded in Delhi and other parts of the country, including J&K – leading to dismantling of the pan India terror network.
Throughout the day, the station premises witnessed a heavy deployment of joint teams of Police and the Central Para-Military Forces with the security paraphernalia, including advanced surveillance equipment.
Teams of Government Railway Police (GRP), Executive Police and Special Operations Groups jointly participated in this massive search operation where in the passengers, both arriving and departing from the Jammu Railway Station, and their luggage were thoroughly frisked.
Metal detectors and dog squads were used extensively besides manual frisking of the passengers both the Platform number 1 and 2, before they could step out of the station or board the train. Later the searches were extended to areas around the Railway Station besides all entry and exit points.
Joint teams of Police and paramilitary forces also conducted reverse combing operations which were later joined by JKP Commandos also.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had set up separate check points.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh has stated that the threat perception is very high. “We don’t wait for specific inputs for launching such search operations, which are imperative for the safety of passengers as well,” he said.
Officials maintained that it would be a regular feature.
Meanwhile, General Manager (GM) Northern Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma also conducted an extensive inspection of the Srinagar-Baramulla rail section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on Monday, November 17, 2025.
