Security heightened along Sgr-Jmu highway ahead of Republic Day
Ramban, Jan 10: Security have been significantly tightened along the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway and key towns in the Jammu region ahead of Republic Day, with multiple checking points, random frisking, night patrolling.
A senior police officer said that stringent security measures have been put in place in Jammu, Udhampur and Ramban and other districts to prevent any untoward incident.
As part of the heightened alert, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have established multiple checking points along the national highway and its link roads, where random checks and frisking of suspected persons are being conducted round the clock.
Security has also been beefed up in major highway towns, including Udhampur and Ramban, as well as at critical stretches such as the Chenani–Nashri and Banihal–Qazigund tunnels.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed at entry and exit points of Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts, along with other important towns across the Jammu region.
In addition, night patrolling has been intensified in district headquarters and surrounding villages of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban to ensure enhanced vigilance.
Senior police officers said that police and other security agencies remained on high alert and were closely monitoring the situation to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations.
