Jammu, Aug 19: Security grid in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu and Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu besides other associated hospitals would be bolstered.

Decision was taken in a meeting of senior faculty, convened by Principal and Dean, Jammu GMC, Dr Ashutosh Gupta to review the security scenario within the hospital premises.

During the meeting, as per the officials, it was unanimously decided that 20 armed police personnel would be deployed round the clock and their postings would be done by the administration in consultation with the Medical Superintendent, SMGS Jammu.

As per the Medical Superintendent, GMCH Jammu, there was a requirement of at least 35 armed police personnel, comprising well equipped 15 women police personnel laced with communication tools 24x7 for the identified sensitive areas like Emergency Wing, GMCH Jammu, Mortuary GMCH Jammu, Indoor Wards along with staircase, GMCH Jammu and OPDs GMCH Jammu.

“The GMCH Jammu shall activate the Emergency Code System to immediately send the message to the police post inside the hospital premises for a swift action in case of any emergent like situation,” it was decided in the meeting.

It was also impressed upon during the meeting that the security personnel would be deputed as per the roaster for a hospital round to maintain public discipline in all the departments of the hospitals besides monitoring and new CCTVs would also be installed in the hospital premises and every floor would be manned by at least one security personnel from the private hospital security.
