Security further beefed up in Rajouri, Poonch ahead of Republic Day
Rajouri, Jan 23: The security has been further beefed up in Rajouri and Poonch districts ahead of the Republic Day.
The security forces have put in place a joint security plan for smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations. Check points for the vehicles and area domination patrols have been increased.
The twin district Rajouri and Poonch, also referred to as a Pir Panjal region, has witnessed dozens of terror related incidents in last three years.
Republic Day is celebrated every year in all areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts. Functions are organised at village, block, tehsil levels besides main events at sub division as well as district headquarter level.
The security forces have been asked to maintain highest possible alertness for smooth conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
Officials said that a joint security plan has been put in place in twin districts jointly by Police, Army and CAPFs. Multiple meetings have also been held in the districts to chalk out in this connection.
A number of measures have been taken. Those include increase in laying Mobile Motor Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) on roads for random as well as specific searches of vehicles.
Besides, forces have also scaled up Area Domination Patrols (ADPs) in rural areas which are being jointly conducted by forces especially in remote areas.
