Security forces recover arms, ammunition in Karnah
Kupwara, Jan 28: Security forces on Wednesday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a cordon-and-search operation in the Taad area of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A senior police officer told Greater Kashmir that the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs. During the search, security forces recovered four Chinese pistols, seven pistol magazines, 308 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, three AK magazines and a sniper sight.
“The recovery was made during a sustained search operation in the forest belt, which is considered a sensitive area due to its proximity to the Line of Control,” the officer said.
He added that the seized arms and ammunition were suspected to have been concealed for use in terrorist activities.
