Security beefed up in Ramban ahead of arrival of star campaigner
Ramban, Sep, 6: In connection with the proposed visit of Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, who is the star campaigner of BJP for forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, security has been heightened on Srinagar Jammu National Highway on Friday.
Sources informed that Defence Minister and star campaigner of the party Rajnath Singh is going to address public gatherings in Ramban and Banihal assembly segments on Sunday.
They said security across the district was already heightened in view of forthcoming assembly elections.
They said patrolling has been increased and security has been heightened on Jammu Srinagar National Highway including on the link roads across the district.
The first phase of assembly elections is going to be held on 24 seats including two assembly segments Ramban and Banihal September 18.
Earlier congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi , Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh addressed public gatherings in Banihal and Ramban assembly constituencies to woo the voters in support of their party candidates.
Meanwhile NC candidate from Banihal Sajjad Shaheen, PDP candidate from Banihal and Independent candidate from Ramban assembly segment also conducted election meetings in Gool, Banihal and Ukhral on Friday.
