Secretary J&K Sports Council inaugurates pickleball courts at SSM college

Pattan, Aug 5: Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull, on Tuesday inaugurated newly developed international-standard pickleball courts at the SSM College of Engineering.

As per a press statement issued, the initiative is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to promote physical activity among youth and steer them away from the growing menace of drug abuse, with the college putting itself in the forefront to save the youth from this catastrophe.

On this occasion Er Mohammad Ashraf Fazli, former chief engineer and ex-chairman of the IEI J&K State Centre; Manan Tramboo, leading business tycoon; and Prof. (Dr) NA Shah, former principal of SSM College of Engineering, participated in the function.

In a separate event the college conducted an Induction Programme/Freshers Day for B.Tech, BBA/MBA, and Diploma-level students of Batch-2025, welcoming students from various streams. As part of the programme, the new students were briefed on the academic environment, institutional functioning, and student support services. A cultural programme was also held on the occasion wherein students showcased their talent. They were also taken on a tour of the campus, including visits to the departments, laboratories, central library, and other key facilities. The induction also served as an opportunity for the students to meet and interact with the faculty and staff, fostering a sense of belonging and community from day one.
