Search to trace 2 missing persons continues after car plunges into river in Doda

Ramban, Dec 1: Search operation continued for the second consecutive day today to trace the two missing persons after a car plunged into Chenab river at Kandote area of Doda district.

Official sources said a car bearing registration number JK06B-2993 on its way to Doda from Charia village skidded off the road and rolled down into the fast-flowing river Chenab and got submerged.

They said three people were travelling in the car when this accident happened on Saturday morning.

The body of an elderly woman identified as Purva Devi (70), wife of Babu Ram, resident of village Indralla, Thathari, Doda, was recovered soon after the accident from the embankments of river Chenab in the Kandote area of Doda.

However, two others including the driver of the car, Sanjeet Kumar (25), son of Satish Kumar, and Beli Ram (75), son of Pannu Ram were drowned river Chenab.

Later Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), volunteers of a local NGO, Ababeel jointly launched a search operation with the help of boats in river . A Police officer informed that no success was achieved in tracing the missing persons or retrieving the bodies on the second day on Sunday.
