The missing individual has been identified as Alam Din, son of Nizam-ud-Din, a resident of Seemari Phagwan area in Kupwara. He reportedly jumped into the river earlier this week, prompting the district administration to deploy teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to locate him.

A senior official in Karnah told Greater Kashmir that the strong current may have swept the body across to the Pakistan-administered side of the river. “However, our teams have intensified efforts to locate it in case it remains on this side,” the official said, adding that the search operation will continue until the body is found.
