Sopore, Jul 22: Sopore administration on Tuesday setup State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) component following several drowning incidents reported in Sopore for the last few years.

The move has fulfilled the demand of locals and other stakeholders of Sopore town.

Chairman Civil Society Sopore Aashiq Hussain Zaki along with other stakeholders and local residents of the town extended heartfelt gratitude to the Sopore administration.

The SDRF unit has a full contingent of men and machinery.

Zaki thanked Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina for his efforts and commitment in ensuring the deployment of this vital emergency response force in Sopore.

"We acknowledge the efforts of the administration towards enhancing the disaster preparedness and public safety framework in the town," Zaki said.

He also expressed his appreciation to SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib and Tehsildar Sopore Sheikh Tariq for their crucial contributions and active coordination in facilitating the smooth arrival of the SDRF personnel and equipment.

"Their collaborative role reflects the strong commitment of the local administration to safeguard the lives and property of the people," Zaki said.

He also appreciated the proactive role of noted social activist Farooq Ahmad Dar, whose continuous efforts and advocacy contribute meaningfully to this positive development.

"We consider this move a progressive measure towards strengthening local capacities in disaster response and urges all stakeholders to work collectively for the safety and welfare of the people," Zaki said.
