Baramulla, Feb 29:  The Science Park has been thrown open in Baramulla ahead of the reopening of the schools across Kashmir. The project has been established to actively engage the students with scientific concepts through games and simulations under open sky.

The park, constructed at Ushkura area near Baramulla main highway was thrown open on Tuesday. The park has been established by a Pune based NGO 1-Aseem foundation in collaboration with the 19 infantry division of Indian Army.

Following the inauguration of the Science Park, the students visited the venue to take firsthand experience getting actively engaged in scientific concepts.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, President Aseem Foundation Sarang Gosawi said the initiative will provide a platform for students to explore beyond traditional teaching methods and offer an interactive space for them to actively engage with scientific concepts through games and simulations.

“The objective of this science park is to actively involve students in scientific concepts. The project was developed here after we recognised the need to make science education more engaging and accessible,” he said.

The students who visited the Science Park soon after it was thrown open, engaged with periscopes, seesaws, and demonstrations of concepts like torque through tug of war. The students of Sanctorum Institute Sopore along with the teachers also visited the Science Park to take firsthand account of the facilities available for the learners.

“The establishment of the Science Park is a wonderful initiative as it will surely enhance interest of students in science and mathematics and provide them an opportunity for innovative and creative learning,” Managing Director Sanctorum Institute, Shakir Ashraf told Greater Kashmir.

“Our students are excited about it and once the school will reopen after winter vacation, we will take the students in groups to the newly established Science Park,” he said.

Shabnam, a teacher from Sopore said the park serves as a valuable resource for educators noting that the teachers can get insights into innovative teaching techniques, discover new experiments, and explore emerging scientific disciplines.
