Kathua, Aug 30: A series of impactful events were organized across various educational institutions across the Kathua district today here under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

The activities aimed to promote voter awareness and ensure greater participation in the upcoming Elections scheduled for October 1, 2024.

At Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Kathua, a debate competition centered on SVEEP, showcasing the enthusiastic participation of students who presented their perspectives on voter education.

The event concluded with an insightful talk delivered by lecturer Kapil Jasrotia, highlighting key points discussed during the debate.

The competition was efficiently organized under the adept supervision of Principal Mangal Singh.

Following the debate, the staff and students took a solemn pledge, reaffirming their commitment to active participation in the electoral process.

In another event at GHSS Nagri Parole, a poem recitation competition was organized under the guidance of Nodal Officer AC 67 Kathua, Jatinder Sethi. This event aimed to raise voter awareness through creative expression, engaging the students in the SVEEP initiative.

AC 68 Hiranagar witnessed a day filled with SVEEP activities, starting at Govt. Higher Secondary School Kootah, where teachers and students took the Voter's Pledge and launched a signature campaign to motivate their families and peers above 18 years of age to vote on election day. The activities extended beyond the school premises with a SVEEP walk in the wards of Kootah Panchayat and home visits to encourage women voters. At Anganwadi Centers (AWC) Patta and Rasana, women pledged to vote, symbolizing their commitment by stamping with their voting fingers.

In 65-Basohli AC, a voters' sensitization rally was organized by the staff and students of Govt. High School Sandhar.

The rally, featuring enthusiastic participants raising slogans and carrying banners, passed through the locality to urge the community to participate in the upcoming elections and vote in record numbers, celebrating the event as a festival of democracy. The event was carried out under the supervision of Nodal Officer SVEEP 65-Basohli, Dr. Roshan Lal, and Headmaster Shiv Dev Singh.

The rally also saw the participation of various community leaders, including Ex-Sarpanch, Kalyan Singh, Capt. Anchal Singh, Capt. Ashok Kumar, Sub. Ran Singh and social welfare workers such as Ritu Devi, Suman Wala and Kamala Devi along with other members of the community.

Additionally, in 63-Bani AC, a friendly volleyball match was organized at GDC Bani by the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club of the college. AC SVEEP Nodal Officer Prof. Naseeb Kumar Bhagat addressed the students on the importance of voting, blending sports with civic education to foster a sense of responsibility among the youth.
