SC orders journalist Shukla to takedown video with allegations against senior judge, initiates contempt case

New Delhi, May 30: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered journalist Ajay Shukla and his YouTube channel The Principle (operated by Varprad Media India Pvt. Ltd.) to take down a video containing scandalous allegations against a senior judge of the apex court reports Bar & Bench.

A bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai, along with Justices Augustine George Masih and Atul S. Chandurkar, restrained the channel from publishing the video and directed its immediate removal.

The Court noted that the video contained serious and defamatory content likely to harm the reputation of the judiciary. It directed the registration of a suo motu criminal contempt case against Shukla and made the YouTube channel a party to the proceedings.
