SBI Life eases claim paperwork for J&K flood victims
Srinagar, Sep 11: In the wake of the recent floods that devastated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, SBI Life Insurance has announced special relief measures to ease the financial burden on affected families.
The company said it has simplified claim procedures and relaxed documentation requirements to ensure quicker support for policyholders.
Notably, SBI Life will not insist on submission of a death certificate in all cases. Instead, entries in government records, municipal registers, e-governance portals, or other authorized databases will be accepted as valid proof.
Under the relaxed norms, claims can be registered with minimal paperwork—only a duly filled claim form, the policy document, and the claimant’s KYC and bank details are required. SBI Life has also deployed dedicated nodal officers in flood-hit regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab to provide direct assistance to families.
“SBI Life expresses deep sorrow over the loss of lives and stands firmly with the affected families in this time of grief,” the company said in a statement.
For support, claimants can reach SBI Life via email at claims.assistance@sbilife.co.in, through the 24x7 toll-free number 1800 267 9090, or by visiting the nearest branch.
The insurer clarified that while the relaxed norms will apply broadly, additional documents such as a death certificate may still be required in cases involving high cover amounts.
