Saudi refinery fire brought under control after drone interception
New Delhi, Mar 2: Saudi Arabiaís energy ministry has said a ìlimited fireî at the Ras Tanura refinery has been brought under control after two drones were intercepted nearby. In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the ministry said the refinery, operated by state oil giant Saudi Aramco, sustained ìminor damage from falling debrisî following the interception of the drones in its vicinity. The fire was ìimmediately dealt withî by emergency teams, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Videos on social media showed flames and thick plumes of smoke rising from the facility.
Saudi Arabia, which hosts US and Western military forces, had earlier condemned what it described as ìblatant and cowardly Iranian attacksî, saying the attempted strikes targeting the Riyadh Region and Eastern Province were successfully intercepted.
