Jammu, Jul 8: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Sat Sharma Tuesday gave a call to party leaders and public representatives to “observe Guru Purnima as a festival of ‘Bharatiya Sanskriti’ and cultural pride.”

They were addressing a series of organisational meetings with District Development Council (DDC) members and senior leaders of party, at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta; J&K BJP general secretary Vibodh Gupta; DDC chairman Bharat Bhushan and BJP Headquarters incharge Priya Sethi also addressed the meetings.

The meeting focussed on energizing the party’s grassroots leadership, chalking out strategies for upcoming organizational programmes, and emphasizing community outreach.

“Guru Purnima is a sacred occasion that binds society with values of gratitude, knowledge and respect for religious and spiritual Gurus, teachers and mentors. Our party leaders and public representatives must celebrate it as a mass participation programme, reflecting BJP’s strong cultural foundation,” said Sat Sharma.

He urged DDC members to actively participate in societal programmes and strengthen public bonding.

Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said, “Celebrating Guru Purnima collectively is a step towards nurturing our civilizational heritage.” He termed the BJP leaders especially the party’s public representatives including MLAs and DDC members as the bridge between governance and people, and stressed on their visible and meaningful involvement in social causes.
