Sanitation work reviewed in Kupwara
Srinagar, Sep 03: Deputy Director Rural Sanitation Kashmir, Dr Mantasha Binti Rashid, conducted a field visit in Kupwara district today to assess the functioning of sanitation assets in various Gram Panchayats (GPs).
The officer assessed the functioning of the assets of Heri-B and Gulgam-B GPs in Block Qadirabad,Batergam GP in Block Kupwara , Khumriyal GP in Block Kalaroos and finally Drugmulla GP in Drugmulla Block.
During the visit, the Deputy Director RS examined the sanitation infrastructure including soak pits,PWMUs, segregation sheds and other related facilities. The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of these assets in improving the sanitation and hygiene.
Dr Mantasha Binti Rashid during her visit also found two patches of land in Gulgam B and Drugmulla for establishing the FSTP (Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant). The two sites identified during the visit were found feasible for establishing FSTP.
DDRS emphasised the importance of establishing FSTPs and instructed BDOs to expedite the land clearance papers with the revenue department as it is a crucial step in preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Necessary instructions were given to BDOs and Panchayat Secretaries to ensure the collection and end disposal of the waste is happening as per the guidelines.
