New Delhi, Dec 14: Senior journalist Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty has been elected President of the Press Club of India (PCI) for the 2025–26 term, according to the results of the club’s elections held on December 13.

Sangeeta won the presidential contest with a decisive margin, polling 1019 votes.

She will be joined by Jatin Gandhi, another senior journalist who was elected Vice-President with a huge margin, polling 1029 votes.

Afzal Imam was elected Secretary General after securing 948 votes, while P R Sunil Kumar was elected Joint Secretary unopposed.

Aditi Rajput was also elected unopposed as Treasurer.

The elections were conducted at the Press Club of India on Raisina Road, New Delhi, under the supervision of the Election Committee.

Results were formally declared on December 14.

In addition to the office-bearers, 16 members were elected to the Managing Committee, marking the completion of the PCI’s annual electoral process for the new term.

The Press Club of India, one of the country’s most prominent bodies representing journalists, plays a key role in promoting press freedom and addressing professional concerns of the media fraternity.
