Srinagar, Mar 17: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Hazratbal constituency, Salman Ali Sagar, has strongly advocated for the revocation of the ban on Section 5 Fards in the areas of Khimber and Chatterhama, a restriction that has been causing immense hardships to residents for nearly a decade.

During an address, Sagar highlighted the plight of hundreds of families whose land has been effectively frozen due to the prolonged ban. The restriction, implemented in 2015, has severely impacted the community by depriving landowners of their basic property rights and causing substantial financial distress to numerous households who cannot utilize, develop, or transfer their own properties.

Sagar emphasised that despite the thorough inquiry conducted and a comprehensive report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar approximately six months ago, the matter continues to remain unresolved, with no concrete action taken by the authorities. This administrative delay has only compounded the difficulties faced by the affected residents.

The MLA has urged the government to expedite the process and take immediate steps to issue Fards to the legitimate landowners. He stressed the importance of ensuring justice for those who have been suffering due to what he described as bureaucratic inertia and the apparent inaction of the Revenue Department.

In response to Sagar's persistent advocacy and repeated representations on behalf of his constituents, government officials have assured that the matter will be thoroughly examined at the highest levels. They have committed to implementing necessary actions to address the grievances of the affected people in a time-bound manner, the statement said.
