Addressing party workers after filing nomination for Kupwara assembly segment, Lone raised anti-Modi and anti-BJP slogans ‘Modi ka jo yaar hai, gadar hai gadar hai’ and ‘BJP ka jo yaar hai, gadar hai gadar hai’ and went on to say that those who were hand-in-glove with the BJP were labelling him to be pro-BJP.

“However, now people have come to know who is with BJP,” he said in an oblique reference to Engineer Rashid.

Earlier, Lone filed nomination papers for the Handwara assembly segment.

He said that during the recently-held parliamentary polls, people rejected him because a campaign was run against him that he was affiliated with BJP but now people have understood who was with BJP.

Lone expressed hope that the people of the Kupwara constituency would give him a chance to serve them.

He said that the same thing was being repeated in this election but people should vote on merit and the developmental aspect.

“If voted to power, I will develop Kupwara. Hopefully, people will give me a chance to work for the holistic development of the constituency,” Lone said.

He said Kashmir was run by “agencies” in these elections about different aspects.

Taking a dig at National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah, Lone said that he should stop labelling people pro-BJP. He said that he would unmask the “invisible forces” who ran a campaign against him in the recent parliamentary polls.
