Sajad Lone welcomes Amit Shah’s statement on AFSPA, terms it “excellent step”

Srinagar, Mar 27: Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone Wednesday welcomed the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (Act). He said the decision will be an “excellent step”.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), Lone said “Removal of AFSPA will be an excellent step. People of Kashmir will welcome it. If it is removed. Let us take the HM for his word and let us hope he honours his word.”

Without naming any party the PC Chairman lashed out at those Kashmiri political leaders who ruled the region and brought AFSPA without revisiting it for decades.

“And to those Kashmiri leaders who ruled J and K and their national partners who brought in AFSPA and never took it back—- can u please have the decency of shutting up,” PC Chairman added.
