Sajad Lone meet Muzaffar Baig, Safina to seek support in LS polls
Srinagar, Apr 24: J&K Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday met former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig and his wife Safina to seek support in ongoing Lok Sabha elections in north Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency.
Baramulla Parliamentary segment is all set to go for polls on May 20, while as many veteran politicians including former chief minister J&K Omar Abdullah, former MP Rajya Sabha Fayaz Mir are in the electoral fray.
The meeting which took place between Lone and Baig was confined to seek electoral support in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), PC Chairman Sajad Lone said “It was a pleasure to call on @Muzaffar__Baig sahib and @SafinaMBaig ji. As the conversation predictably veered towards elections, I stressed that I have a right. And seeking their support is my right”.
Peoples Conference has fielded its Chairman Sajad Lone from north Kashmir’s Baramulla segment. Lone is former Member of the Legislative Assembly elected from the Handwara constituency.
In 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election, Lone won Handwara assembly constituency in north Kashmir, by a margin of more than 5000 votes. He was the one of the two People's Conference candidates elected to the state legislative assembly.
