Sajad Lone for immediate relief to flood hit victims

Visits affected areas, shows solidarity

Kupwara, Apr 30:   Peoples Conference (PC) President) Sajad Gani Lone Wednesday carried out an extensive tour of flood hit areas in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

During his tour he visited Gund Chogul where families are suffering with the devastation caused by the recent floods. He then went to Lokipora, Bungam, Jagerpora and few other places where flashfloods have caused major destruction.

Lone directed his party workers to provide support to the affected families and also urged administration for swift damage assistance and provide immediate relief to the families who have been badly hit due to the flashfloods.

"I am not here to do any politics, infact I am one among these people so I can feel the pain of those whose property got damaged due to flashfloods," said Lone while talking to reporters.

He said that the present dispensation must immediately provide substantial relief to the affected families so that they can have a sigh of relief. "I urge LG administration to assess the losses incurred particularly in horticulture sector and provide substantial relief to the victims other than the set norms of SDRF," he said.

The PC President stated that this is not for the first that flashfloods have hit these areas. “Need of the hour is to augment SDRF teams with state of art machinery so that at the time natural calamities immediate relief is provided to the people," he added.
