Sajad Lone expresses solidarity with affected families
Srinagar, May 9: Peoples Conference president and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Friday expressed concern over cross-border shelling that has shattered dozens of families in border districts, especially Kupwara district.
In a post on X, Lone said that he had intended to visit the affected areas but was advised against it by security officials. "Wanted to visit affected areas in district Kupwara impacted by shelling. The security establishment requested to not come in view of the security situation. And given the burden it puts on the security establishment in facilitating the movement. I can understand their concerns," he wrote.
Lone also said that the impact of shelling has been widespread across the border district. "From Uri to Karnah to areas farther from the LOC, Chowkibal Panzgam, Soonthipora Dolipora Batpora Rawathpora have also witnessed damage," Lone said.
He added that there has been "persistent rattling of houses across scores of villages" due to the cross-border shelling. Expressing solidarity with the affected residents, Lone said, "In these troubled times our prayers are with the people living in these border areas who are facing immense hardships."
