Nagrota, Aug 10: The All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024, hosted by Sainik School Nagrota, concluded today with a grand closing ceremony. RR Swain, Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, presided over the event as the Chief Guest at the Maj Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium.

The four-day event saw fierce competition among eight Sainik Schools from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Sainik School Kunjpura emerged as the Overall Champions with an impressive 108 points, while the hosts, Sainik School Nagrota, secured the runner-up position.

In individual sports, Sainik School Nagrota clinched the Volleyball championship for the second consecutive year, while Sainik School Kunjpura and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira won the Basketball and Hockey championships respectively.

RIRS, Fatehabad showcased exceptional performance in athletics, securing the Athletics Trophy for Sub Junior Boys.

The event also recognized outstanding individual performances. Cadet Avinash Kuma from RLGS, Solan was named Best Athlete in Boys Sub-Juniors, while Cadet Vritika from Sainik School Kunjpura took the title for Girls Sub-Juniors. Cadet Arushi from Sainik School Kapurthala was awarded Best Athlete in Junior Girls.

Sainik School Sujanpur Tira added to their accolades by winning the Cultural Competition, demonstrating the diverse talents of the cadets beyond sports.

In his address, the Chief Guest commended the participants for their sportsmanship and emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing future leaders. Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, on behalf of the host school, expressed gratitude to all involved in making the event a success, highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and competition that defined the meet.
