Sahitya Akademi organises Kashmiri Mushaira at Banihal school
Banihal, Nov 4: The Sahitya Akademi New Delhi organised a one-day Gramalok programme in Kashmiri in collaboration with the Government Higher Secondary School Khari in Ramban on Saturday.
Incharge Principal Higher Secondary School Khari Khalid Rasool was the chief guest and Nazir Ahmed Makhoomi and Zahir Banihali were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Member General Council of Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Manshoor Banihali chaired the function. Khalid Rasool presented the welcome address and Irshad Ahmed Itshad carried out the proceedings of the function.
The writers and poets who presented their verses include Ghulam Nabi Zahir Banihali, Khalid Rasool, Irshad Ahmed Irshad, Muhammad Yousuf Bamboor, and Gull Muhammad Jaan.
The meeting was attended by a large number of audience, lovers of literature, and students. The audience was impressed and appreciated the programme.
Principal Higher Secondary School Khari, Khalid Rasool lauded the efforts of Sahitya Akademi in promoting the culture and literature and the mother tongue.
Nazir Ahmed Makdoomi also appreciated the efforts of the Sahitya Akademi in promoting literary activities among the budding generation and inculcating a sense of love, peace, and national integration.
Member of the General Council of Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Manshoor Banihali presented the presidential address. He assured that Sahitya Akademi would continue its efforts to reach far-flung areas of J&K to promote the language and literature of these areas.
He thanked the school administration for their cooperation and for making the programme a success.
Some students including Tayiba Anjum, Abdul Salam, Abida Farhat, Muhammad Adil, and Ghulam Nabi Bulbul also displayed their talent. The proceedings of the Gramalok programme were carried out by Irshad Ahmed Irshad lecturer of the institution.
