Sadhotra hails amnesty on power bills, pilgrim tourism promotion
Jammu, Mar 20: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, has commended Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's announcement of a one-time amnesty on power bills and initiatives to promote pilgrim tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a public meeting in Jandial, Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Sadhotra described these measures as "significant steps towards economic relief and infrastructural development" in the region.
"The amnesty on power bills will provide much-needed relief to consumers who have been struggling with accumulated electricity dues," Sadhotra said. He added that the decision demonstrates the Chief Minister's commitment to addressing common people's grievances and ensuring financial stability for consumers, particularly amid economic challenges.
Sadhotra particularly emphasised the importance of pilgrim tourism development in the Jammu region. He praised the Chief Minister's vision to promote religious destinations throughout Jammu and Kashmir, noting that such initiatives would boost the local economy while enhancing the region's reputation as a spiritual and cultural hub.
The public meeting was organized by Joginder Singh Kaku and Devinder Singh, Block President of the National Conference. Sadhotra used the platform to highlight what he described as the government's pro-people policies.
The former minister's remarks came after Chief Minister Abdullah's response to discussions on departmental grants in the Legislative Assembly, where these initiatives were announced.
