Russian President Putin warns ‘catastrophic consequences’ after Trump’s Iran bombing threat
Moscow, April 02: Russian President Vladimir Putin warned of "catastrophic consequences" in response to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened to bomb Iran's nuclear sites to force a deal with Washington, according to the Indian Express.
Putin's statement followed his talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also condemned the threats, stating in an interview with International Affairs that "ultimatums are being heard," which Russia considers "inappropriate" and an attempt to impose U.S. will on Iran.
While the Kremlin has largely avoided direct criticism of Trump, Putin has prioritized strengthening ties with Washington, raising concerns in Ukraine and among European allies.
Meanwhile, Moscow has offered to mediate between the U.S. and Iran, following its strategic partnership treaty with Tehran signed in January.
