New Delhi, July 8: At least 23 people have been killed following a massive missile attack by Russia on cities across Ukraine, officials reported as quoted by BBC. The capital city, Kyiv, experienced a rare daytime strike resulting in nine fatalities. According to the city's mayor, a children's hospital was struck and is being evacuated.

In the central city of Kryvyi Rih, the head of the military administration confirmed at least 10 deaths, while three more people were killed in the eastern town of Pokrovsk and one in Dnipro, reports BBC. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is currently in Poland to sign a security pact, stated that Russia launched around 40 missiles targeting various locations across the country.

"Different cities: Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk. More than 40 missiles of various types. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and a children's hospital were damaged," Mr. Zelensky said.
