Rural, border areas to receive first preference in upcoming development projects: Satish Sharma
Uri, Nov 20: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, and Skill Training, Satish Sharma, along with MLA Uri Dr Sajjad Shafi Uri, inaugurated the newly constructed indoor stadium at Kalgi Uri, marking a significant boost to the sports infrastructure of the region.
Speaking at the event, Minister Satish Sharma as per a statement said that sports facilities have long been lacking in the Uri Constituency, and the government was committed to addressing this gap. He emphasised that areas like Kalgi, Pernia, and Sheeri require dedicated sports stadiums to nurture local talent.
MLA Dr Sajjad Shafi Uri informed that he has already submitted a Rs18 crore proposal to the Government of India for another major indoor stadium, for which land has been identified in Mohra.
To further strengthen connectivity and promote border tourism, the Minister announced one more bus service dedicated to boosting tourism along the border belt.
Reaffirming commitment to the region, Minister Sharma stated that rural and border areas will receive first preference in upcoming development projects. He added that all demands raised by MLA Dr Sajjad Shafi Uri were genuine and were being fulfilled on priority.
