Ruhullah Mehdi calls on Home Minister

New Delhi, Aug 3: National Conference Member of Parliament from Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

According to a press release, he advocated for the release of hundreds of prisoners from J&K who have been held without trials for an extended period of time. “Additionally, the MP requested the transfer of individuals who are currently under trial and have not yet been convicted to jails within Jammu and Kashmir. In a letter, Ruhullah further emphasised the urgency of addressing the prolonged detention of these individuals and stressed the importance of upholding their rights to a fair and timely trial,” the press release said.

In a letter to Home minister, Ruhullah said that several people from J&K have been incarcerated from different regions of the valley and many of them are convicted, undertrial or are being held without a trail and are being held in different parts of the country.
